LIOO Moving · Atlanta Buyer’s Guide
Top 10 Movers in Atlanta, GA (2026): What Each One Publishes About Itself
Most “best movers in Atlanta” lists are built from the same thing: a star rating and a review count, copied from Google and rewritten as praise. That tells you people liked a company. It does not tell you what an hour costs, what the deposit is, what happens if you cancel, or whether the company is licensed for the move you are booking. We read each company’s own website for those answers instead.
This is LIOO Moving’s own ranking, and we put ourselves first. The order is our editorial judgement. The facts underneath it are not — each one comes from the company’s own website as it stood on October 9, 2026, so you can re-rank the list on whatever matters most to your move.
What we checked The method
For every company we read its own pages — home, about, pricing, FAQ, terms and contact — and recorded only what the company says about itself:
-
Where it is based and when it says it was founded.
-
Who it is — independent, family-owned, franchise, or part of a multi-state company.
-
Price — is an hourly rate published, or do you have to call?
-
The fine print — deposit, minimum hours and cancellation terms, where published.
-
Storage — does it run its own facility?
-
Credentials — which license numbers it prints on its own site.
We left out star ratings and review counts on purpose. They change every week, Google shows them live, and every other list already repeats them. Where a company’s own pages disagree with each other — two companies here give different figures for how long they have been in business — we say so rather than pick one.
What ten websites actually tell you The findings
-
3 of 10 publish an hourly rate — LIOO Moving, Georgia Home Movers and Zip Moving & Storage. A fourth, 24/7 Moving, shows a worked example rather than its rate. The other six ask you to call or fill in a form.
-
5 of 10 print a Georgia household goods license number on their website: 24/7 Moving, Atlanta’s Furniture Taxi, Mark the Mover, Georgia Home Movers and Wirks. LIOO Moving does not yet.
-
6 of 10 say they run their own storage, from a downtown warehouse to a 110,000-square-foot facility. LIOO Moving is one of the four that do not.
-
5 of 10 publish deposit or cancellation terms. The most detailed, Zip’s, run from free cancellation more than 10 days out to $600 on the day of the move.
-
The “since” year is not always one year. Two companies give conflicting figures for their age on different pages of their own site.

1. LIOO Moving Best for a price you can see first
Best for: local moves across Metro Atlanta where you want the hourly rate, the minimum and the deposit settled before anyone visits your home.
LIOO Moving is an Atlanta household goods carrier, in business since 2009 and certificated by the Georgia Department of Public Safety, Motor Carrier Compliance Division. Its office is at 691 John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE in Old Fourth Ward, and its crews work inside and outside the Perimeter.
We rank ourselves first because of how much LIOO puts in writing before you call: a rate for every crew size from two movers to six with the truck included, a separate labor-only rate, the minimum hours, and how the deposit is handled. Full-service runs from $160 an hour for two movers and a truck to $320 for six. Labor-only crews, where you supply the truck or container, run from $140 to $300. There are no separate fuel, stair or weight charges. The one named exception is a $100 specialty-item fee for pianos, gun safes and any single item over 300 pounds, which is quoted before you book. Booking runs 24/7, and nights, weekends and holidays are billed at the same rates.
-
On the record: since 2009 · GA DPS/MCCD household goods carrier · independent, own crews and company trucks · full-service and labor-only · 25% reservation deposit, credited to the final bill · released valuation at $0.60 per pound per item included, full-value protection available if elected before the job starts.
-
Worth knowing before you call: two companies on this list publish a lower two-mover rate (Georgia Home Movers, Zip), and two publish a shorter weekday minimum than LIOO’s 2.5 hours (24/7 Moving, Georgia Home Movers). LIOO does not run a storage warehouse — for a gap between closings it loads and unloads a unit you rent. Its certificate number is not yet printed on its website; ask for it, as you should with any mover here.
2. 24/7 Moving Best for intown and designer deliveries
Best for: moves inside the city, and furniture coming from a showroom or a designer rather than another home.
24/7 Moving works from 1130 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW. Its site says it was started in 2005 by three friends who had run a furniture gallery, and that it is still owner-operated. That origin shows in the work it describes: residential and apartment moves, commercial jobs, packing, loading rental trucks and PODs, and a storage warehouse its site places in downtown Atlanta. It describes itself as one of the top delivery choices among Atlanta interior design stores. Nothing on its site offers long-distance moves.
Its pricing is explained rather than listed. You pay an hourly rate, a one-time trip fee and a two-hour minimum, with time billed in 15-minute increments after that. The deposit is one hour of labor plus the trip fee. The site works through an example rather than publishing its current rate, so ask for the actual figure.
-
On the record: since 2005 · owner-operated · own warehouse downtown · GA license HG500181 printed on its site · 2-hour minimum, 15-minute billing.
-
Worth knowing before you call: the trip fee is charged on top of the hourly rate, so compare it against all-inclusive rates on a total, not an hourly, basis.
3. Atlanta’s Furniture Taxi Best for HUD and Section 8 relocations
Best for: government-assisted relocations, and long-distance moves where you do not want your belongings sharing a truck.
The Furniture Taxi is a family-owned company with a climate-controlled warehouse at 2340 Chamblee Tucker Rd, where office and warehouse visits are by appointment. Its distinctive line is a dedicated Section 8 and HUD-URA relocation service — work that runs on agency paperwork and timelines most movers never deal with. It also runs long-distance moves across the 48 contiguous states, and says it uses dedicated trucks that never mix loads. Alongside that it covers local and commercial moves, packing, labor-only help, crating, assembly, white-glove delivery and pianos.
Its pages give different figures for its experience (21 years on one, 23 on another), and moving rates are not published. Storage terms are: billing is monthly with no prorating, and the site lists a 3% fee on card payments.
-
On the record: family-owned · climate-controlled warehouse in Chamblee · GA license 501257, USDOT 2161279 and MC 751121 printed on its site · long-distance at flat rates.
-
Worth knowing before you call: the company operates under the legal name APMC Moving & Delivery LLC, so expect that name, not “Furniture Taxi”, on contracts and license records.
4. Mark the Mover Best for out-of-state moves
Best for: leaving Georgia with one company doing the whole job, from packing to delivery.
Mark the Mover has the longest history on this list — its contact page says it was founded in the late 1970s, though other pages say three decades — and runs from Carroll Drive NW, with a second warehouse near Fulton County Airport. Between them it says it has two 20,000-square-foot climate-controlled warehouses and 16 company-owned trucks. Its FAQ is unusually direct: it is “not a van-line” and does not broker moves, so the company that quotes you is the company that moves you. Most of its interstate work is in the Southeast, priced by weight and distance, and it advertises a guaranteed 24-hour delivery window on interstate moves.
Two policies differ from most of this list: it says pianos are moved at no charge beyond the hourly rate, and it adds no fuel surcharge. Local moves are billed hourly, but the rate itself is not published.
-
On the record: founded in the late 1970s, per its contact page · locally owned, does not broker · two warehouses, 16 trucks · GA license 7576, USDOT 758674 and MC 342211 printed on its site · non-refundable deposit, 72 hours’ notice to postpone or cancel.
-
Worth knowing before you call: its FAQ says each move includes $300 of coverage, and long-distance moves are paid in cash or certified funds only.
5. Falcon Moving Best for a small, flat deposit
Best for: a standard local move where you want to book without tying up much money in advance.
Falcon has served Metro Atlanta since 2018 from Shallowford Road, and says it is locally owned with no franchise fees. Its pricing has two parts: a flat hourly rate and a one-time travel fee based on mileage. The rate is not published. Its booking terms are among the friendliest here: a $100 deposit, free rescheduling, and a one-hour charge if you cancel on the day. It lists a 3% fee for card payments.
It is also clear about what it will not take. It does not move grand or baby grand pianos, or any item over 500 pounds. And for moves out of state, its site says the job is handled by Wildcat Van Lines, which it describes as a sister company — so the carrier on your long-distance paperwork would be Wildcat, not Falcon.
-
On the record: since 2018 · locally owned · no storage facility stated · $100 deposit · states a Georgia household goods license but prints no certificate number.
-
Worth knowing before you call: on long-distance moves, ask which company’s name will appear on the bill of lading.
6. Georgia Home Movers Best for a published rate in Cobb
Best for: Marietta and Cobb County moves where you want to compare on a published number.
Georgia Home Movers is a family-owned company founded in 2017 by Kellye and Vladimir P., based at 1412 Canton Rd in Marietta. It publishes the most detailed price list here after LIOO’s, set by home size: $140 an hour for a one-bedroom with two movers and a 17-foot truck, $180 for a two-bedroom with three movers, and up to $320–$360 for a four-bedroom with five or six movers and two trucks. Labor-only crews run from $120 to $180 an hour. The site says the hourly rate includes gas, shrink wrap, blankets, dollies, drive time and mileage.
That is a lower two-mover rate than LIOO’s, and the weekday minimum is two hours (three at weekends). It also offers junk removal priced per item, which is useful if part of the house is not coming with you.
-
On the record: since 2017 · family-owned · no storage facility stated · GA license 8768 and USDOT 2985787 printed on its site · long-distance quoted at flat rates.
-
Worth knowing before you call: its rates are tied to home size, so confirm the crew and truck you will actually get if your home is fuller or emptier than the bedroom count suggests. It requires at least four movers for items over 400 pounds.
7. Atlanta Peach Movers Best for antiques and fine art
Best for: high-value pieces that need crating, and grand pianos.
Atlanta Peach Movers has been moving Atlanta since 1987, from Northeast Parkway in Doraville with a second address on Techwood Drive. It says it runs a 110,000-square-foot facility with 24-hour surveillance and climate-controlled storage in wooden crates, and trains its crews at its own site, which it calls Peach University. It moves uprights, baby grands and grands, pool tables, antiques and fine art, and builds crates — something LIOO does not do. It also coordinates international moves, while noting on its site that it does not file the paperwork itself. It says it has been the official mover of the Atlanta Braves since 2008.
-
On the record: since 1987 · two Atlanta addresses · 110,000 sq ft facility, crate storage · no license numbers printed on its site · pricing not published.
-
Worth knowing before you call: ask for its Georgia certificate number and its federal numbers, since the site does not show them.
8. Zip Moving & Storage Best for terms in writing
Best for: customers who want the rate, the deposit, the storage price and the cost of cancelling all in writing before they book.
Zip is the only company here headquartered outside Georgia. It started in 2015 in Rockville, Maryland, and opened its Atlanta branch in 2017, now based at 1700 Oakbrook Dr in Norcross. It publishes rates starting at $150 an hour for two movers and a truck, $180 for three and $210 for four. The deposit for a local move is one hour’s rate.
Its terms of service are the most complete on this list. Cancelling is free more than 10 days out, costs $150 plus the deposit from 10 to 4 days, $360 plus the deposit inside 3 days, and $600 on the day. Rescheduling inside 3 days costs $240. Its company-owned, climate-controlled storage has a $125 monthly minimum with a 5% yearly increase. It also publishes sample prices for long-distance moves.
-
On the record: since 2015 (Atlanta since 2017) · multi-state company · company-owned storage · USDOT 3306591 and MC 1049580 printed for its Georgia company, no Georgia certificate number shown.
-
Worth knowing before you call: read the cancellation schedule before you pay the deposit. The fees are clear, but they start 10 days out, well before the 72-hour cut-offs LIOO and Mark the Mover use.
9. Top Dog Moving Best for North Fulton on short notice
Best for: Alpharetta and Roswell moves that need to happen this week.
Top Dog is a family-owned company founded in 2018, based on Union Hill Road in Alpharetta. Its pitch is speed: next-day service and free same-day estimates. It covers residential and full-service moves, packing and unpacking, furniture assembly, commercial work and item disposal, and offers temporary storage. Its site says it was named best local moving company in Atlanta by LocalMovers.com.
-
On the record: since 2018 · family-owned · no storage facility described · no license numbers printed on its site · pricing not published.
-
Worth knowing before you call: the site says “licensed and insured” without numbers, so ask for its Georgia certificate number before you pay a deposit. Its site also says its team has 14 years of experience; that refers to the team, not the company.
10. Wirks Moving & Storage Best for storage between closings
Best for: a gap between moving out and moving in, and commercial clients who need warehousing.
Wirks was founded in 2009 by Eric Wirks and runs from 1470 Field Park Circle NW in Marietta, with suite offices in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Woodstock and Fayetteville. Its 30,000-square-foot, temperature-controlled facility stores goods in vaults and on pallets. That is the main reason to choose it, and it is something LIOO does not offer. It covers local, long-distance and commercial moves, packing, labor-only help, white-glove delivery and FF&E logistics.
On credentials it does better than LIOO: like Mark the Mover and the Furniture Taxi, its site prints all three numbers — MC 699457, USDOT 1942465 and Georgia certificate 500873 — so you can check it without making a call. Pricing is through an online calculator rather than a published rate. Billing is in 15-minute increments with a two- to three-hour minimum, drive time from its warehouse is a flat rate, and card payments carry a 3% fee.
-
On the record: since 2009 · founder-led · 30,000 sq ft facility · GA certificate 500873, USDOT 1942465, MC 699457 printed on its site.
-
Worth knowing before you call: the warehouse and commercial depth may be more than a one-bedroom move needs.
The fine print, compared Deposits and cancelling
A low hourly rate can be undone by a large deposit you cannot get back, or a cancellation fee you did not read. Here is what each company publishes. Where a cell says “not published”, ask before you pay anything.
| Company | Deposit | Cancelling and minimums |
|---|---|---|
| LIOO Moving | 25% of the estimate, credited to the final bill | Non-refundable if the move is 72 hours or less away; 2.5-hour minimum (3 hours weekends, same-day and 25+ miles) |
| 24/7 Moving | One hour of labor plus the trip fee | 2-hour minimum, 15-minute billing; cancellation terms not published |
| Mark the Mover | Non-refundable; amount not published | 72 hours’ notice to postpone or cancel |
| Falcon Moving | $100 | Same-day cancellation costs one hour; rescheduling free; 3% card fee |
| Georgia Home Movers | Not published | 2-hour minimum weekdays, 3 hours weekends (labor-only 3 hours) |
| Zip Moving & Storage | One hour’s rate (local) | Free 10+ days out; $150 + deposit at 4–10 days; $360 + deposit inside 3 days; $600 on the day |
| Wirks Moving & Storage | Not published | 2–3 hour minimum, 15-minute billing; 3% card fee |
| Furniture Taxi, Atlanta Peach, Top Dog | Not published | Not published |
Full-service or labor-only? The comparison most people skip
Before comparing prices, work out which product you are actually buying. Three quotes can differ by hundreds of dollars simply because they cover different things.
| Model | What you get | Right for |
|---|---|---|
| Full-service | Crew and truck from one company | A standard home or apartment move where you don’t want to drive |
| Labor-only | Crew only — you supply the truck, container or rental van | You have already rented a truck or booked a container |
| Franchise | National brand, independently owned local operator | You want brand-level process and warehousing |
| Van-line agent or partner carrier | The company may hand the job to another carrier | Long-haul or corporate relocation |
Ask every company the same question: will your own employees perform this move, or is it subcontracted? The answer decides who is accountable if something goes wrong.
Check the license Before you book
Any company moving household goods within Georgia must hold a household goods carrier certificate from the Georgia Department of Public Safety, Motor Carrier Compliance Division. That state credential is separate from the federal USDOT and MC numbers that cover moves between states — a company can hold one and not the other, and a USDOT number on its own does not mean a company is authorized to move households across state lines.
DPS publishes a list of household goods carriers at gamccd.net, but the page itself warns that the list is not up to date. If a company is missing from it, do not assume the worst — call DPS Regulatory Compliance on 404-624-7241 with the company’s legal name and certificate number. For the full process, see our guide to verifying a moving company’s license in Georgia.
How much do movers cost in Atlanta? The variables
There is no single figure, because the price is assembled rather than looked up. What moves it: crew size; whether the truck and travel are included or billed as a trip fee; move size and access — stairs, long carries, elevator waits, gated entries and tight intown parking all cost time; distance; packing; specialty items such as pianos, safes and gym equipment; timing, since month-end, weekends and the summer peak book out first; and minimum hours, which is the number that most often makes a small job cost more than expected.
The three published rate cards, side by side. For two movers and a truck, Georgia Home Movers lists $140 an hour, Zip $150 and LIOO Moving $160. For three movers, Georgia Home Movers and Zip list $180 and LIOO $200. Check what each rate includes before comparing them: Georgia Home Movers says its rate covers gas, drive time and mileage, and LIOO charges no travel fee inside the metro service area. LIOO’s full-service ladder is $160/hr for 2 movers, $200/hr for 3, $240/hr for 4, $280/hr for 5 and $320/hr for 6, with the truck included. Its labor-only ladder is $140, $180, $220, $260 and $300 for 2 to 6 movers. The 25% reservation deposit is credited to the final bill.
The other seven companies do not publish rates — contact them for current pricing. Treat national-average moving-cost figures with caution: they are not Atlanta numbers and they are not quotes. For a fuller breakdown, see what an Atlanta move actually costs.
Before you book Ten questions
-
What is your Georgia DPS/MCCD certificate number? Then verify it.
-
Will your own employees perform this move, or is it subcontracted?
-
Is the truck included in that hourly rate, or is there a trip or travel fee?
-
What is the minimum number of hours, and does it change for weekends or same-day bookings?
-
What is and isn’t included — fuel, stairs, long carries, elevator waits, card fees?
-
What happens if the move runs longer than estimated?
-
What valuation coverage is included, and what does full-value protection cost? Basic released valuation is a weight-based amount per item, not replacement cost.
-
Is a deposit required, is it credited to the final bill, and is it refundable?
-
What does it cost to cancel or reschedule, and from how many days out?
-
Is this quote binding, or an estimate that can change?
As the fine-print table shows, these answers genuinely vary between companies. Don’t assume any two answer the same way.
FAQ Common questions
Who are the top 10 movers in Atlanta, GA?
Our 2026 ranking: LIOO Moving, 24/7 Moving, Atlanta’s Furniture Taxi, Mark the Mover, Falcon Moving, Georgia Home Movers, Atlanta Peach Movers, Zip Moving & Storage, Top Dog Moving and Wirks Moving & Storage. The right one depends on the move: Mark the Mover for leaving Georgia, Atlanta Peach Movers for antiques and grand pianos, Wirks for storage between closings, and LIOO Moving when you want the rate settled before you book.
Which Atlanta movers publish their prices?
Of the ten companies we checked on October 9, 2026, three publish an hourly rate on their own website: LIOO Moving ($160 an hour for two movers and a truck), Georgia Home Movers ($140) and Zip Moving & Storage ($150). 24/7 Moving shows a worked example instead of its rate. The other six quote by phone, form or online calculator.
How much do movers cost in Atlanta?
Local moves are usually billed hourly. Published rates for two movers and a truck run from $140 to $160 an hour among the Atlanta companies that publish them, and LIOO Moving’s full-service ladder rises to $320 an hour for six movers. Your total depends on crew size, whether travel is billed separately, access, packing and the minimum hours that apply.
Do Atlanta movers charge a deposit?
Most do, and the terms vary widely. Among companies that publish them: LIOO Moving takes 25% of the estimate, credited to the final bill; Falcon Moving takes $100; Zip Moving & Storage takes one hour’s rate, and 24/7 Moving one hour of labor plus its trip fee. Ask whether the deposit is credited to the bill and when it stops being refundable.
Do movers provide the truck?
It varies by provider and by service. Full-service moving includes the truck in the hourly rate, though some companies add a separate trip or travel fee. Labor-only service does not include a truck — you supply the truck, container or rental van and the crew loads it. Always confirm which one a quote covers before comparing it with another.
Can movers load a POD or U-Haul I have already rented?
Yes. That is labor-only or container-loading service, offered by several companies on this list, including LIOO Moving, 24/7 Moving and Georgia Home Movers. Confirm the provider handles your container type, and ask about minimum hours, since small loading jobs often sit near the minimum.
LIOO Moving covers full-service local moving in Atlanta and labor-only crews across the metro, with the rate and what’s included in writing up front — and you can read what our customers say before you book.
