Dorm movers for move-in and move-out
Residence halls run move-in and move-out on the school’s own appointments, and several keep moving trucks out of their unloading zones, so the plan follows the campus rules in the notes below. Where a campus keeps trucks out, the truck parks in the nearest lot or street the school allows and the crew carries in on dollies during your appointment, checked in as your helpers where the school allows helpers. Tell us the hall and your appointment, and the truck is loaded in the order it will be unloaded. At move-out the rooms empty within days of finals, so the job is staged to clear the room quickly; where the school requires it, the student escorts the crew.
Off-campus and roommate moves
Most student apartment moves happen between leases, around the end of July and the end of May. Apartment buildings near campus each set their own loading rules, from elevator reservations to timed loading zones, and that is settled with the property before the date. Our apartment movers also handle partial loads: one roommate moving out while the others stay, billed for the time that move takes.
Small loads and furniture-only moves
A bed, a desk, two suitcases and a mini-fridge is a real move, and so is a couch from Facebook Marketplace headed for a third-floor walk-up. Single-piece and small-load jobs bill at the hourly rate against the minimum in the rate table. If you already have the truck or container, labor-only movers load or unload it for you.
Parent-assisted, storage and last-minute moves
Parents flying in can have the loading and driving handled while they settle the student; booking, confirmation and payment work by phone or email. Students staying in town or going home for the summer can move belongings into storage in May and back out in August: ask about moving and storage. Same-day and next-day requests are taken when a crew is free, which is easiest in the quieter weeks mid-semester.

What a mover needs to know at each campus we serve, taken from the school’s own housing pages. Several campuses keep moving trucks out of their move-in unloading zones, so on move-in day the truck parks where the school allows and the crew carries in. Schools reset these rules every year: check your current housing instructions and send them to us when you book.
Georgia Tech
Every resident must pick a move-in appointment; time-tickets arrive by email, and one is assigned if the student doesn’t choose. At the drive-through check-in, volunteers unload cars into bins and the car moves on to short-term parking. That check-in deck has a 7-foot-6-inch height limit, so U-Hauls and other tall vehicles can’t enter, and the school recommends bringing your own wagon or cart. At move-out, each resident gets a half-hour check-out window, and the school encourages moving out within 24 hours of the last final.

Georgia State University
A move-in appointment is required, booked through the MyHousing portal. Unloading zones open at 9 a.m. and close to new entries at 5 p.m., each resident gets up to one hour to unload, and vehicles without a housing permit must leave the zone right after. U-Hauls, moving trucks and oversized vehicles can’t use the unloading zones. Up to three helpers per resident, all checked in at the front desk with photo ID; bring your own wagons, dollies or hand trucks. Move-out also needs an appointment, within 24 hours of the last final.

Emory University
Students sign up for a move-in time on their MyHousing page. On move-in day, volunteers direct cars to each hall’s drop-off point, and cars then park in a campus lot or deck named in the hall’s arrival guide. At move-out, a limited number of carts and bins are available, nothing can be stored in the hall afterward, and students may contract any storage company.

Atlanta University Center
Morehouse: everything should fit in a personal vehicle; U-Haul trucks and trailers are not permitted, and first-year students don’t bring furniture, beds or mattresses. Spelman: move-in runs on appointment time slots, with logistics sent only to the student’s Spelman email. A resident using a moving company at move-out must email the Resident Director at least 48 hours ahead and escort the movers in and out of the hall. Clark Atlanta: the school names a preferred moving, storage and shipping partner, and only financially enrolled students can move in.

Kennesaw State University
Students choose a move-in arrival time in the Housing Portal and must check in within that 30-minute window; it can be changed up to 48 hours ahead. After check-in, cars follow signs to the community’s unloading zone, unload quickly and move on. Bins are provided (limit one hour), wagons and dollies are encouraged, and U-Hauls and moving trucks are not allowed. A resident parking permit is required. At move-out, residents pick a 30-minute window themselves, and parking is still enforced.

What Makes Us Operationally Suited for Student Moves
Peak weeks, booked early.
Move-out runs from late April through mid-May and move-in from late July through August. Book 2 to 3 weeks ahead for a month-end date and about a week ahead mid-month; same-day moves are booked by phone.
Crews that know student jobs.
They load dorm twin mattresses, secure dorm-sized fridges, work around exam-week building access, and move quickly when a parent’s flight leaves in three hours. Where a building needs an elevator reservation or a loading-dock slot, it is confirmed before the truck rolls.
Parents out of state, and straight pricing.
Quotes, scheduling, payment and updates can be handled by phone or email with a parent who is not on site, and the student gets a heads-up before the crew arrives. The price is the published hourly rate in the table below, not a teaser rate surcharged back later.
What a Dorm or Small-Apartment Move Costs
Student moves are billed by the hour at the published rate for the crew size, against a minimum number of hours. Two movers is the standard student crew; three makes sense for heavier furniture, stairs or tight timing. Full service is the crew and our truck; labor only is the crew alone.

The minimum is 2.5 hours on weekdays and 3 hours on weekends, for same-day bookings and for moves 25 or more miles from downtown, so the smallest dorm move with two movers costs the minimum charge in the table. A studio or one-bedroom usually takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours including the drive; stairs, long walks and furniture disassembly add time, and a reserved elevator saves it. Larger crews, up to six movers, run on the full rate card. A 25% reservation deposit holds the date and is credited to the final bill.
When labor-only applies. If you have rented a truck, a trailer or a portable container, you only need the crew: labor-only crews load or unload it at the labor-only rate, on the same minimum. Pianos, gun safes and anything over 300 pounds carry a $100 specialty-item fee, quoted before you book.
Summer storage. For the gap between move-out in May and move-in in August, ask about moving and storage when you book.

Home Park, West Midtown and the Midtown high-rises, where loading docks and elevator reservations are the rule and Home Park’s converted houses mean narrow streets and on-street parking.

Housing in and around Downtown, where loading often runs through parking decks with height limits, so the truck is sized to the deck.
Near the Atlanta University Center
The West End and the blocks around the AUC are mostly older houses converted to student rentals, with narrow streets and on-street parking.
Near Emory
Druid Hills and Decatur: older walk-ups, gated complexes and newer mid-rises, home to Emory students and grad students and to Agnes Scott students.
Near Kennesaw State
Campus-area apartments in Kennesaw and Marietta, and the moves intown for internships or after graduation.
Elsewhere
Old Fourth Ward, Atlantic Station, East Atlanta, Virginia-Highland, Brookhaven, College Park, Buckhead and Sandy Springs, often the origin or destination when a parent helps with the move.
Student Moving Questions, Answered
Do you move single dorm rooms, or is there a minimum that makes it not worth it?
Yes, we move single dorm rooms, single bedrooms in shared apartments and full one-bedrooms. Moves are billed hourly with a 2.5-hour minimum on weekdays (3 hours on weekends, for same-day bookings and moves 25+ miles from downtown). With two movers and our truck the weekday minimum comes to $400; labor-only, $350. Tell us it is a dorm load and the crew is sized to keep the bill at the minimum.
What does it cost to move from a dorm to an off-campus apartment?
A dorm-room load with two movers usually runs the hourly minimum. A studio or one-bedroom typically takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours total, including the drive, at the two-mover rate in the table above. Stairs, walking distance and furniture disassembly change the final time.
What does the final bill look like? Are there charges I won’t see in the quote?
Your quote lists the hourly rate, the minimum, the crew size and any materials you request. Pianos, gun safes and anything over 300 pounds carry a $100 specialty-item fee, quoted before you book. Beyond that fee there is no separate fuel, stair or weight charge, and you pay for the time actually used.
Can my parents book and pay for the move from out of state while I’m at school?
Yes. Parents can handle booking, confirmation and payment by phone or email. We confirm pickup and drop-off details directly with the student on move day so everyone stays coordinated.
We had movers no-show last August. How do I know you’ll actually show up?
You choose an arrival window when you book, and dispatch confirms the arrival time the day before. The crew lead texts when they are on the way.
When does labor-only make sense instead of full service?
When you already have the transport: a rental truck, a trailer or a portable container. Labor-only crews load or unload it at the labor-only rate, $140 an hour for two movers, on the same minimum. Full service adds our truck and drivers, at $160 an hour for two movers.
My lease ends one day before the new one starts. What are my options?
If the dates line up, move straight from one to the other. If they don’t, ask about moving and storage for the gap. Lease turnovers at the end of July and the start of August are the busiest days of the year for student moves, so book those early.
How far ahead should we book for move-in or move-out week?
