Moving & Storage · Atlanta, GA
When your move-out and move-in dates don't line up, LIOO's licensed crews load, transport, and stage your belongings into a storage unit or container — and bring them back when you're ready. One team, one published hourly rate, no juggling a truck and a storage run yourself.
Quick answer
Yes, movers will go to a storage unit. LIOO Moving's crews load your home, drive it to the unit or container you rent, and stack it; on your move-in date they bring it back out. LIOO is a mover, not a self-storage facility: labor and transport are billed at the published hourly rate; the unit is rented from the facility.
Yes. A storage move is an ordinary local move with a storage unit, container, or warehouse door at one end. LIOO is a mover, not a self-storage facility, so we do the heavy, careful part and work around whatever storage space you have chosen:
What we don't do: rent storage units, run a warehouse, or hold your belongings by the month. That keeps the price simple and the accountability clear: while our crew is handling your things they are covered by our valuation; while they sit in the unit, the facility's contract applies.
Renting the truck yourself, or loading a container in your own driveway? Our labor-only crews do the same work by the hour on the crew-only rate card below.
Metro-Atlanta moves rarely happen on a clean, same-day handoff. Storage bridges the gap in the situations we see most:
"Moving and storage" covers three different arrangements, and the one you pick decides who touches your belongings and how many times. LIOO works with two of them.
| Storage type | Where your things sit | Who loads and unloads | LIOO's role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-storage unit | A unit you rent at a facility, month to month, with your own access | LIOO crew, both legs | We load the unit and return to empty it on your date |
| Portable container | A container dropped at your driveway, stored at the carrier's yard, redelivered | LIOO crew, both legs | We load it where it sits, on the crew-only rate; the carrier stores and moves the box |
| Mover's warehouse | Vaults inside a moving company's own warehouse, no customer access | That mover's crew | Not offered — LIOO does not operate a warehouse |
Full-service carriers such as Two Men and a Truck, All My Sons and Berger Allied store household goods in their own warehouses, typically in wooden vaults billed monthly, with access arranged through the mover rather than a gate code. LIOO's route keeps the unit in your name: you pay the facility's posted monthly rate plus two published labor visits, and you can walk in whenever the gate is open.
Not sure which storage route fits your gap? Our guide to using storage in the middle of a move walks through the decision by gap length and access needs.
A storage move is billed exactly like any LIOO local move: a published hourly rate by crew size, on the actual time worked, with a 2.5-hour minimum per visit (3 hours on weekends, same-day bookings, and moves 25+ miles from downtown). There is no separate "storage rate", no travel charge inside the metro area, and no day-of upcharge. The difference from a normal move is that you book two labor events — into storage, then out — plus whatever the facility or container company charges you for the space.
| Crew | Rate |

A one-bedroom apartment going into a 10×10 unit with two movers and a LIOO truck: each visit is billed from the 2.5-hour minimum, so the floor is $400 into storage and $400 back out — $800 in labor before the unit rental. If the facility is across town from both addresses and drive time pushes each visit to 3.5 hours, the labor total is $1,120. Same crew, same rate, only the hours change. This is arithmetic on the published rate, not a quote; your written estimate names the crew size and the hours.

Facility size charts converge on the same bands, and our crews find them reliable when the unit is stacked properly. Round up if you own oversized furniture, appliances, or more than about twenty boxes for the band.
| Unit size | Typically holds | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 5×5 (25 sq ft) | Boxes, a dresser, a chair, seasonal items | Overflow or a walk-in closet's worth |
| 5×10 (50 sq ft) | A studio: mattress set, small sofa, dresser, boxes | Studio or a single bedroom |
| 10×10 (100 sq ft) | A one-bedroom apartment's furniture plus boxes | 1BR, or a 2BR that is mostly boxes |
| 10×15 (150 sq ft) | Two bedrooms, living room, and kitchen contents | 2BR apartment or small house |
| 10×20 (200 sq ft) | A three-bedroom house, including appliances | 3BR house, or a 2BR with a garage |
| 10×30 (300 sq ft) | Four or more bedrooms, garage, and patio furniture | Whole-house storage during a build or renovation |
Two things the size chart cannot tell you: a drive-up unit on the ground floor saves crew time (and your bill) compared with an interior unit behind an elevator, and wood furniture, electronics, or anything sitting through a Georgia summer belongs in a climate-controlled unit. Tell us the facility and unit number when you book so the crew plans the carry.
LIOO does not warehouse belongings, so we do not offer weekly or monthly storage of our own. When a destination is not accessible until the next day (a closing that slips to the morning, an elevator reservation that starts at 8 a.m.), a short-term hold-over can sometimes be arranged at booking, case by case, and is priced on the same hourly card as the labor around it. If you need your belongings held for more than a night, the right answer is a rented unit or container, which we load and unload for you. Ask dispatch when you book; we would rather tell you "rent a unit" than promise a hold we cannot guarantee.
While a LIOO crew is packing, carrying, driving, or stacking your belongings, released valuation at $0.60 per pound per item applies, and full-value protection can be elected before the job starts. While your things sit in the unit or container, LIOO is not the custodian: the facility's rental agreement, its optional tenant insurance, or your own homeowners or renters policy is what covers them. Read that agreement before the crew loads.
