Fairburn is a railroad town, and the railroad still decides how a moving truck gets around it. The CSX main line runs through the middle of downtown, the one state route that passes under it has about ten feet of clearance, and the interchange most jobs depend on — I-85 at Senoia Road — is under reconstruction through fall 2027. We plan the route, the truck and the crew around those three facts before move day. Fairburn takes in 6,479 housing units across its city limits.

LIOO Moving is a licensed, insured Georgia Household Goods Carrier handling local moves in Fairburn, GA: the historic blocks either side of the CSX line, the apartment corridor along Senoia Road and Renaissance Parkway, and the two-story subdivisions out Durham Lake Parkway. Crew and truck are billed hourly from $160 on a 2.5-hour weekday minimum — three hours on weekends, same-day bookings and moves of 25 miles or more. Three facts shape almost every Fairburn route: the rail underpass at East Broad Street has about ten feet of clearance, the I-85 interchange at Exit 61 is under reconstruction through fall 2027, and most addresses that say "Fairburn" sit outside the city limits. Which Fairburn Is on Your Envelope?
Fairburn is the postmark for far more ground than the city covers. Write it on an envelope and you might live in the City of Fairburn, the City of South Fulton, Union City or unincorporated Fayette County, and each one changes the HOA rules, the exit the truck takes and which of our pages holds the plan.

The dispatcher’s sheet
The Fairburn Underpass & Exit Sheet
This is the sheet our dispatcher works from. It exists because a phone will happily send a box truck up Highway 92 toward a bridge it cannot fit under.
| Crossing | What it is | Moving truck? |
|---|---|---|
| Campbellton Street (SR 92) at East Broad Street | The CSX underpass locals call the East Broad Street bridge, built in 1917 when the railroad replaced a grade crossing. Signs on both approaches and flashing yellow lights behind them. | No. About ten feet of clearance against a 26-foot truck that stands close to thirteen. Fairburn Police Chief Anthony Bazydlo has said the department responded to at least 95 incidents at this bridge since 2020, rental box trucks among them. |
| Cole Street | The other vehicular rail underpass downtown, the same low concrete design. | No. We treat it exactly like East Broad Street. |
| Smith Street | The former underpass, rehabilitated in 2022 into a pedestrian walkway with a brick staircase and an ADA ramp. | Closed to vehicles. |
| SR 74 at US-29 and Virlyn B. Smith Road | Highway bridge over the rail corridor at the southwest edge of downtown, with ramps down to Roosevelt Highway. | Yes. This is where our trucks change sides. |
In practice, an address on the West Broad Street side — the storefront row on US-29, the streets behind it, Rivertown Road, Durham Lakes — is reached from US-29. An address on the East Broad Street side — the blocks south of the depots, Senoia Road, Fayetteville Road — is reached from Senoia Road or Oakley Industrial Boulevard. When a move starts on one side and ends on the other, the truck loops around on SR 74 instead of going under. The loop is short, and it removes the most common way a truck gets wrecked in this town.

| Exit | Use it for | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Exit 61 — SR 74 / Senoia Road | Downtown by way of SR 74 to US-29. The Senoia Road and Meadow Glen apartments. Renaissance Parkway. Oakley Industrial Boulevard. Tyrone and Peachtree City to the south. | GDOT’s $81 million rebuild: the interchange reconstructed to a partial cloverleaf, three miles of I-85 widened, SR 74 widened from City Lake Road to Milam Road, and signalized turn lanes added on the reconstructed SR 74 overpass. Scheduled completion is fall 2027. Single-lane closures are allowed on SR 74 daily, 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.–6 a.m. |
| Exit 64 — SR 138 / Jonesboro Road | The Union City side of the 30213 area, and US-29 into Fairburn from the northeast. | Retail-strip traffic near the interstate, no interchange work. Our fallback when Exit 61 is backed up. |
GDOT’s first long-term shift moved southbound SR 74 travel lanes left between City Lake Road and Meadow Glen Parkway. That daytime closure window is why we push Fairburn jobs toward an 8 a.m. first load: a truck that clears Exit 61 before nine has the interchange behind it for the rest of the morning.
Housing and access
Six Kinds of Fairburn Address, and What Each Asks
Downtown · both sides of the tracks
The depot blocks
West Broad Street’s commercial row faces the two depots across the rail line, and the oldest houses in town sit on the streets behind it and on the East Broad side opposite. Lots are narrow and driveways are short or missing, so the truck usually works from the street. Doorways and porch steps get measured on the quote call: in a house this age, they decide whether a sofa travels assembled.
Exit 61 · apartments
Senoia Road and Meadow Glen
Campbell Crossing at 303 Senoia Road and Cambridge Faire at 900 Meadow Glen Parkway sit in or beside the SR 74 work zone — GDOT’s first long-term lane shift ran from City Lake Road to Meadow Glen Parkway. For apartment moves here we ask for the floor, the distance from the unit door to where a truck can legally stop, the gate code, and whether the leasing office wants a certificate of insurance.
Exit 61 · newer rentals and townhomes
Renaissance Parkway
The Dylan at Fairburn (6010 Renaissance Parkway) and Oslo (7000 Renaissance Parkway) are the newer end of the rental stock, and the Renaissance at South Park townhomes add a different problem: the stairs are inside the unit. A three-level townhome with a top-floor bedroom set is a three-mover job even when the square footage says two.
Freight corridor
Oakley Industrial Boulevard
Solstice Apartment Homes at 1111 Oakley Industrial Boulevard — four stories, 308 units — shares its road with distribution centers: S.C. Johnson at 1555 and Post Consumer Brands at 4955. The traffic outside the gate is tractor-trailers on shift-change timing, not commuters. Moves here are often tied to a job start date, which leaves little room to reschedule, so we plan around the building’s rules first and the freight traffic second.
Planned community
Durham Lakes
Brookhaven, Fairways, Enclave and The Parks at Durham Lakes line Durham Lake Parkway northwest of downtown, built from the mid-2000s into the 2020s. These are large two-story houses, which puts most jobs at four movers. Driveways take a full truck. The open questions are HOA move-in rules and how much of the house is upstairs.
2000s subdivisions
St. Johns Crossing, Meadow Glen, Fieldstone Manor, Fairhaven
Cul-de-sac streets of two-story homes from the early 2000s. Access is rarely the issue. Volume is: garages and bonus rooms that have filled up over twenty years. Give us an honest garage count and we size the truck so the job finishes in one trip. Packing help the day before is the usual add-on.
30213
A Fairburn Address Is Usually Not in Fairburn
The City of Fairburn counted 16,483 residents in the 2020 census. ZIP 30213 — every address the Postal Service labels “Fairburn, GA” — counted 42,518. More than half of the people who write Fairburn on an envelope live somewhere else.
The hourly rate is identical in all of them. What changes is the route, the HOA or gate rules, and which exit the truck takes — so we ask for the street address, not just the city. The decoder at the top of this page says which of our pages carries the plan for yours.

Dates That Change a Move Day Here
These are the dates that change curb access downtown or load the SR 74 junction. We refresh the table each season.
| When | What is happening | What it does to a move |
|---|---|---|
| Sat Oct 3, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. | Fairburn Fall Festival & Parade, staged at 15 West Broad Street, with the parade through downtown at 9 | Broad Street closures downtown into the afternoon. We do not book depot-block addresses that Saturday. |
| Saturdays Oct 31 – Dec 5, plus Fri Nov 27, 1–9 p.m. | Georgia Renaissance Festival Fall Fling, 6905 Virlyn B. Smith Road | Festival traffic loads the SR 74 / US-29 junction from midday. Jobs near Exit 61 start at 8 and are clear by noon. |
| Mon–Fri Nov 23–27 | Fulton County Schools Thanksgiving break | A family-move window. Friday and Saturday slots go first. |
| Dec 21 – Jan 4 | Fulton County Schools winter break; classes resume January 5 | The other family-move window, and the shortest one. |
| Weekends from mid-April into May 2027 | Georgia Renaissance Festival spring season. The 2026 run was April 11 to May 31, Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day, 10:30 a.m.–6 p.m.; 2027 dates were not announced when this page was updated. | Same junction, eight weekends in a row, and a bigger crowd than the fall. A weekday move avoids it entirely. |
| Thu May 27, 2027 | Last day of school, Fulton County | Start of the summer peak. The larger two-story jobs are the ones to book early. |
| Through fall 2027 | I-85 / SR 74 interchange reconstruction | See the sheet above. Early starts, and Exit 64 as the fallback. |

What sets the hours in Fairburn
In Fairburn the hours turn on where the address sits. A depot-block house adds a street carry and doorways that decide whether a sofa travels assembled. A Renaissance Parkway townhome adds interior stairs. A Durham Lakes house adds volume. Tell us which of the six address types is yours and the crew size follows from it, confirmed in writing before move day.
Actual costs vary based on inventory, stairs, elevator use, carry distance, and truck access. A 25% reservation deposit holds the date and is credited toward the final bill. Released-value protection of $0.60 per pound is included; full-value protection can be elected before the job. If you are comparing numbers across the metro, our Atlanta moving cost guide shows how the hours add up by home size.
Licensed and papered
Licensed Georgia household-goods carrier, certificated by the Georgia Department of Public Safety, Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD), with cargo and liability policies on file. Certificates of insurance go to apartment offices and HOAs on request, ahead of move day.

Asked on Fairburn calls
Fairburn Moving Questions
Can a moving truck fit under the railroad bridge on Campbellton Street?
No. The CSX underpass where Highway 92 meets East Broad Street has about ten feet of clearance, and a 26-foot moving truck stands close to thirteen. Our trucks cross the rail line on the SR 74 bridge at the southwest edge of downtown instead.
I rented a U-Haul for my Fairburn move. Will it clear the downtown underpass, and can you load it?
Check the clearance sticker in the cab before you drive downtown. Most rental box trucks 15 feet and longer are posted at 11 feet or more, which is taller than the East Broad Street and Cole Street underpasses. Use SR 74 to change sides of the tracks. And yes, a labor-only crew of two or three will load or unload the truck, billed hourly on a 2.5-hour weekday minimum — three hours on weekends, same-day bookings and moves of 25 miles or more.
How is the I-85 and Highway 74 construction affecting moves?
The interchange at Exit 61 is being rebuilt through fall 2027, and GDOT allows single-lane closures on SR 74 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. We schedule Fairburn jobs for an 8 a.m. first load so the truck is through the interchange before the daytime window opens, and we use Exit 64 at SR 138 when Exit 61 is backed up.
My mailing address says Fairburn, but I am in the City of South Fulton. Do you still cover me?
Yes, at the same hourly rates. ZIP 30213 reaches well past the Fairburn city limits into South Fulton, Union City and part of Fayette County. Give us the street address when you call so we plan the right exit and ask about the right HOA or gate rules.
Do Georgia Renaissance Festival days affect moving in Fairburn?
Near Exit 61, yes. The festival grounds are on Virlyn B. Smith Road, right where SR 74 meets US-29. Spring weekends run 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Fall Fling Saturdays run 1 to 9 p.m. A weekday move avoids it, and a Saturday move that starts at 8 is usually loaded before the traffic builds.
What does a local move in Fairburn cost?
Most one-bedroom moves run $480 to $900 and most three-bedroom moves $1,000 to $1,800. The rate is $160 an hour for two movers and a truck, $200 for three and $240 for four, on a 2.5-hour weekday minimum — three hours on weekends, same-day bookings and moves of 25 miles or more. A 25% deposit holds the date and is credited to the final bill. Actual costs vary based on inventory, stairs, elevator use, carry distance, and truck access. The cheapest booking is a weekday outside the festival dates on this page, because the weekday minimum is 2.5 hours against three on weekends.
Do Fairburn apartment communities require a certificate of insurance?
It varies by property, so ask your leasing office when you give notice. If they want one, send us their requirements and we issue the certificate to the office before move day. Ask at the same time about gate codes and any rules on move-in hours or where a truck may park.
Does LIOO Moving have an office in Fairburn?
No. Our office is at 691 John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE in Atlanta, about 20 miles up I-85, and crews are dispatched from there. LIOO Moving is a licensed Georgia Household Goods Carrier under the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
Can I hire Fairburn movers for just a few hours?
Yes. A labor-only crew of two or three loads or unloads a truck or container you supply, billed hourly on the same minimums as a full move: 2.5 hours on weekdays, three hours on weekends, same-day bookings and moves of 25 miles or more. A full crew with our truck books the same way. The minimum is the floor, not a package, and the clock stops when the crew finishes.
How do I check that a Fairburn mover is licensed, and what are the red flags?
In Georgia, a household goods mover is certificated by the Department of Public Safety’s Motor Carrier Compliance Division; ask for the carrier’s name as it appears on that certificate and for a certificate of insurance before move day. Red flags: a quote that gives a total but no crew size or hourly rate, a mover who cannot explain released-value versus full-value protection, no certificate of insurance on request, and no physical office address. LIOO Moving’s office is at 691 John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE in Atlanta, and the crew size, hourly rate and $0.60-per-pound released-value protection are written into every quote.
How far ahead should I book a Fairburn move?
Two to three weeks for a month-end date, about a week for mid-month, and same-day by phone when the schedule has room. The Fulton County school breaks and the last week of May go first, so book those earlier.
How do I compare Fairburn moving quotes?
Put every quote, LIOO’s included, through the same three-point test: the quote names the crew size and hourly rate, not just a total; released-value and full-value protection are explained in writing; and a certificate of insurance plus the Georgia DPS carrier certificate are produced on request.
Both addresses, one call
Which Side of the Tracks, in Writing
We will tell you the crew size, the hourly rate, which side of the tracks each address is on and how the truck gets between them, in writing, before you put down a deposit. Released-value protection of $0.60 per pound is included, and full-value protection can be elected before the job.
