Orlando is about 439 road miles from downtown Atlanta by I-75, Florida's Turnpike and SR 408, so LIOO Moving prices the move per shipment on weight and distance, fixes it in a binding estimate after a survey, and carries it on its own trucks with its own crews.

The Orlando run, in brief439 road miles · two cashless toll roads at the end · a 111-square-mile city

Orlando sits about 439 road miles south of downtown Atlanta: I-75 for the first 385 miles, around Macon on I-475 and through Valdosta into Florida, then Florida's Turnpike from Wildwood for 42 miles and the SR 408 East-West Expressway for the last 9 into downtown. Both toll roads are cashless, the driver handles them, and the binding total on the written estimate is the price. About a third of Orlando's homes are detached houses and half are in buildings of five or more units, so the delivery plan is written for whichever the address turns out to be.

Three roads to Lake Eola

Two road changes separate Atlanta from Orlando, and the estimate's mileage runs along all three roads between the two front doors.

From the Downtown Connector the truck follows I-75 south, loops around Macon on the I-475 bypass, and runs down through Perry, Tifton and Valdosta to the Florida line at mile 242, where every truck stops at the agricultural inspection station in Hamilton County. I-75 continues past Lake City, Gainesville and Ocala to Wildwood in Sumter County, 385 miles from Atlanta, where Florida's Turnpike begins.

The Turnpike carries the truck 42 miles south-east through Lake County into Orange County, to its interchange with the SR 408 East-West Expressway; the 408 covers the last 9 miles east into downtown Orlando. LIOO Moving measured the whole drive at 439 road miles: 242 in Georgia and 197 in Florida, through 16 Georgia counties and 8 Florida ones.

One city, a large county and two neighbouring ones

Which Orlando the truck is going to

A lease that says "Orlando" may sit in the city, in the far larger unincorporated county around it or in a neighbouring city in Osceola or Seminole County, so the street address, not the postmark, plans the route.

A load in Atlanta, a driveway or a dock in Orlando

Loading in Atlanta, unloading in Orlando

No single housing type dominates Orlando, so the delivery write-up depends on the address more than the city.

A 26-foot box truck takes the load in Atlanta. If that end is a tower, two items are closed out before a date is set: the building's dock hours, and its certificate of insurance, which LIOO sends the same day the requirements arrive. The freight elevator is booked by LIOO when the building permits it and otherwise around the slot you reserve.

By the Census Bureau's 2020–2024 estimate, 32% of the City of Orlando's homes are detached houses, 25% sit in buildings of 20 or more units and another 25% in buildings of 5 to 19 units; six in ten households rent. For a house, the survey records the driveway, the carry and any association gate; for a garden complex, the lot and the building's move-in hours; for a downtown building, its dock or driveway, because the orange freight zones on the street are permit-only and capped at 30 minutes.

A closing that lands after the truck does is handled with a self-storage unit or a portable container near the new address, rented in your name: the crew fills it on arrival and empties it once the keys are in hand. LIOO Moving operates no storage building.

Inventory, then the address, then a price

From inventory to a binding Orlando price

An Orlando figure needs the inventory for the weight and the address for the access plan, and nothing is quoted until both are in.

Write the inventory room by room, walk it on a video call, or have a surveyor come to the Atlanta home. The estimate that follows lists the weight or cubic feet it produced, the 439 road miles, packing if any, the access notes for the Atlanta end and the Orlando end, and the released valuation included on every move. Its total is binding and is settled before the date is reserved. The hourly card for Metro Atlanta moves does not apply to this route.

A 439-mile drive, building hours and the storm months

Dates that govern an Atlanta to Orlando delivery

The move-in hours at the Orlando end, the 439-mile drive and the hurricane calendar set the delivery date, in that order.

Atlanta and Orlando are both on Eastern time, so the schedule runs on one clock. Delivery is written on the estimate as a window: long enough for the load, the drive with its inspection stop and two toll roads, and an unload that goes at the pace the driveway, the lot or the dock allows, and it is fixed once the move-in hours are known. From 1 June to 30 November the peninsula is in hurricane season; a storm that shuts the Turnpike or floods the streets around the new address pushes the delivery back, and a date in those months is booked with room for that.

Once the household is in, Florida allows 30 days to obtain a Florida driver license, and a vehicle is titled and registered within 10 days of establishing residency, after Florida insurance has been arranged.

Weight, miles, access, date and packing

Atlanta to Orlando moving costs

The Atlanta to Orlando route has no hourly rate card and no published price list: the move is priced per shipment.

A long-distance move is priced on the shipment's weight and the distance, adjusted for access, the date and packing, and the price is set in a binding estimate after a survey. The deposit and balance terms for a long-distance move are stated in your written estimate before you book. The Turnpike and SR 408 tolls are the driver's concern and are not added to your price on delivery day.

Released valuation is included at $0.60 per pound per item and limited to $2,000 per move under the Terms of Service; it is not insurance, and damage is reported within two calendar days of the move's completion.

Pianos, gun safes and any single item over 300 pounds carry a $100 specialty-item fee each, listed on the estimate. Nothing over 400 pounds is lifted, grand pianos are not moved, and an item over 300 pounds is not carried up or down a full flight of stairs (five steps at most).

Packing, buildings and storage

Add-ons for a 439-mile move

An Orlando move can carry packing, building coordination or a storage stop, each priced on its own line.

Crew packing for the Turnpike

The whole home or the kitchen and fragile pieces alone, wrapped and boxed by the crew and shown on the estimate. A piece that needs a wooden crate goes to a crating specialist; LIOO builds none.

Atlanta tower to Orlando complex

Hours, elevator bookings, dock limits and insurance certificates are collected from both buildings before load day; downtown, the building's own dock keeps the truck clear of the 30-minute freight zones.

A unit while the closing catches up

If the closing or the community's move-in slot comes after the truck, a storage unit or container near the new address holds the load until the door opens.

Asked about the Orlando run

Questions before an Atlanta to Orlando move

How many road miles is Atlanta to Orlando for a moving truck?

About 439, City Hall to City Hall. The truck rides I-75 around Macon, through Valdosta and over the Florida line at mile 242, reaching Wildwood at mile 385; Florida's Turnpike takes it 42 miles to the SR 408 interchange, and the 408 brings it the final 9 miles into downtown. The mileage on your estimate is measured between your two addresses along that line.

Who pays the Turnpike and SR 408 tolls on an Atlanta to Orlando move?

The driver. Neither road takes cash: the Turnpike bills a vehicle without a Florida-accepted transponder under TOLL-BY-PLATE, with a $2.50 administrative charge, and accepts Georgia's Peach Pass; the Central Florida Expressway Authority's 408 is settled by E-PASS or a Pay By Plate invoice. Nothing about tolls lands on you at delivery, and the binding total on the written estimate is the price.

Can the truck stop at the curb in downtown Orlando to unload?

Only where the building has its own dock or driveway, which is how a downtown delivery is planned. The orange-curb freight zones on downtown streets are reserved for vehicles carrying a City of Orlando freight loading permit, issued to businesses with vehicles over 5,000 pounds or 80 inches wide, and a vehicle may stand in one for no more than 30 minutes. The survey records the dock, the elevator and the building's move-in hours instead.

Is an Orlando delivery more likely to be a house or an apartment?

Either, which is why the address is asked for early. In the City of Orlando, 32% of homes are detached houses, 25% are in buildings of 20 or more units and 25% in buildings of 5 to 19, and six households in ten rent. A house gets its driveway, carry and any gate written into the estimate; a complex gets its lot and move-in hours; a downtown building gets its dock or driveway.

Does the load change trucks or crews between Atlanta and Orlando?

No. One LIOO Moving crew, employed by the company, loads the truck in Atlanta, drives the 439 miles and unloads in Orlando. There is no broker and no subcontractor at any stage, and nothing is moved between trucks at a depot, at the state line or at Wildwood; the crew that padded the furniture in Atlanta sets it down in the Orlando home.

Does this route deliver to Kissimmee, Winter Park or Sanford as well?

Not without a check first. Winter Park is a separate city of 9 square miles inside Orange County, Kissimmee is 22 square miles in Osceola County to the south, and Sanford is 24 square miles in Seminole County to the north. Each sets its own curb rules and sits on its own mileage, so the office confirms an address outside the City of Orlando before the survey is booked.

Will the Atlanta hourly rate apply to an Orlando move?

No. The shipment is priced as a whole: its weight from the inventory, its 439 miles from the road, then the date, any packing and the driveway, dock, elevator or carry at each end. The written estimate shows each of those lines with the included released valuation, and its binding total is the price. The hourly card belongs to Metro Atlanta moves and is not used here.

Can LIOO move me from Orlando back to Atlanta?

No. LIOO Moving's out-of-state routes all leave from the Atlanta area, so a household moving out of Central Florida needs a mover based there. The move described here is one that starts in Metro Atlanta or a nearby Georgia community and ends in Orlando.
