Grant Park's houses went up before the driveway existed, so the truck parks on the street and every piece crosses a porch staircase. The other half of the job is the calendar: the zoo, the park, Oakland Cemetery and the stadium each take a different curb on a different day. Dispatch reads the block and the date before quoting the crew. Across the Grant Park and Oakland statistical area, 39.0% of householders moved in during the 2010s.
Grant Park is one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods, laid out from 1882 around the park Lemuel Grant deeded to the city in 1883 — 131 acres today, home to Zoo Atlanta since 1889, a National Register district since 1979. Oakland Cemetery holds the north edge on Memorial Drive, I-20 cuts through the top third, and the BeltLine's Southside and Southeast trails now meet at Boulevard on the south end. The park splits the ZIP codes: 30312 north of it (Memorial Drive, the Oakland blocks, the Gateway-deck side of Boulevard) and 30315 from the zoo south to United Avenue; past Boulevard Heights, 30316 is Ormewood Park and East Atlanta's ground. Porch, curb, calendar: five Grant Park addresses
The front steps, the curb and what is happening at the park that day set the crew. Address by address:
Queen Anne and two-story Victorians on the park blocks — Cherokee, Grant, Sydney, Atlanta Avenue
The 1880s-to-1900s houses nearest the park sit high on their lots: six to twelve porch steps with a landing turn, then the interior stair. Most blocks have no driveway, both curbs are parked and the canopy closes over the street, so the truck cones a spot where the limbs allow and the crew carries 40 to 120 feet. Doors run 30 to 32 inches, which is why the sectional and the armoire come apart on the porch and the heart pine gets runners before anything crosses the threshold. Craftsman bungalows and cottages toward United Avenue and Ormewood
South and east of the park the 1910s-and-20s bungalows have lower porches, narrower halls and, on some blocks, a single-width driveway a box truck will not fit — the truck stays on the street and the driveway becomes the staging lane. Lots slope toward the Southside Trail, so basements and rear steps are common. United Avenue, Confederate Avenue until late 2018, is the Ormewood Park line and the last cross street before the BeltLine.
Memorial Drive and the Oakland edge, north of I-20 (30312)
The mid-rises between Boulevard and Bill Kennedy Way run on building rules: a certificate of insurance on file, a reserved freight elevator, and a garage clearance bar the truck does not clear, so the truck stays on Memorial and the crew walks the deck. The city's Memorial Drive corridor rebuild between Connally and Grant Street is still in design — nothing to route around in 2026. The truck comes off I-20 at Bill Kennedy Way or Boulevard, never through Cabbagetown's one-lane streets. West of Grant Street the strip is the newer lease buildings — Link Apartments Canvas at 301 Memorial and Platform at Grant Park across the road at 290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive — with the townhome infill on Logan and the older houses on Woodward behind them, and Hill Street is the last Grant Park block before Summerhill. Same certificate-and-freight-car rule; the truck works from Memorial or the side-street curb. The Mattress Factory Lofts at 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is on our board — a one-bedroom came in from Decatur with two movers on a Saturday.
Boulevard at the BeltLine — the apartments, The Beacon and the townhome infill (30315)
Where Boulevard crosses the BeltLine, the new apartment blocks load from their garages with the trail along the frontage, and The Beacon's converted warehouses at 1040 Grant Street sit on the Southside Trail with their entry from Hill Street. The trail is a no-staging edge — the Southeast Trail east to Glenwood opened April 16, 2026, and the last Southside segments west toward University Avenue followed in June, with landscaping crews on the corridor through year-end. The townhome rows off Grant, Hill and Boulevard load through rear alleys or tandem garages: truck at the alley mouth. The Boulevard at Grant Park, at 1015 Boulevard on the trail, is one we have worked unit-to-unit on the crew-only card.
The zoo-side blocks and the Summerhill edge — Georgia Avenue, Cherokee, Hank Aaron Drive
West of Cherokee Avenue the grid runs to Georgia Avenue's rebuilt storefronts and Center Parc Stadium in Summerhill. Zoo Atlanta's entrance is at 800 Cherokee, the thousand-space Grant Park Gateway deck at 759 Boulevard takes its overflow, and on weekends zoo traffic owns both streets from mid-morning. On a Georgia State home date the Georgia Avenue side is closed to a truck until the lots empty.

Part 1 — The way in, and the curbs that fill
The two I-20 exits land in different places — they are the first two rows — and westbound from the Moreland side there is a third, Exit 58, which drops onto Hill Street at the neighborhood's west line. From the Summerhill side, Georgia Avenue is the weekday way in from the west, and the curbs are the other half of the sheet.

Getting a 26-footer to the curb
Leaving the office, the truck runs south on Boulevard past Oakland Cemetery and under I-20 — under a mile to the Memorial Drive blocks, two miles to the zoo gate. From the east it comes off I-20 at Exit 59B onto Memorial for the Oakland strip, or at 59A down Boulevard for everything south of the interstate. From Summerhill it enters on Georgia Avenue and works east on the numbered cross streets to Cherokee. It never cuts through Cabbagetown, and on a zoo day it reaches the BeltLine end by Georgia Avenue, Cherokee and United rather than down Boulevard past the deck.

Local moves run on an hourly clock; the truck, pads, dollies, runners, shrink wrap and bed and table assembly ride on that rate, and stairs, carry distance, fuel and the drive from the office are never billed as line items. A porch does not change the rate — it changes the hours, which is why every bracket below is worked for a Grant Park house rather than a generic one.

Where the hours go on a Grant Park job
The porch and the walk, more than the furniture. Ten steps with a landing turn roughly double the time per heavy piece, and an 80-foot street carry adds about an hour to a two-bedroom — about $200 at the three-mover rate. That is why the third mover is on almost every park-block job: $40 more an hour, and the stair work stops holding the truck. Second is the date — a Cherokee Avenue start after the zoo lot fills adds 30 to 45 minutes of circling and carry, up to $150, which the sheet above exists to avoid. Crew-only work — your truck, your container — runs from $140 an hour for two movers, same tiered minimum. A 25% reservation deposit holds the date and comes off the final invoice.

Loading your own truck or a container
Labor-only crews load or unload your rental at $140 an hour for two, tiered minimum as above. Whether a container may sit on a Grant Park street is the City's call, not ours, and the few single-width driveways that fit one are the usual answer.
Downsizing out of a two-story house
Thirty years in a Queen Anne means an attic, a basement and a second floor to sort — planned by our senior and downsizing team, with storage between the two dates as two crew visits on the hourly card; LIOO is the crew and the truck, not the facility.
One piece through a 30-inch door
An upright piano, a gun safe or a cast-iron tub is the commonest single-item call here. Pianos, gun safes and anything over 300 pounds carry a $100 specialty-item fee, quoted before you book, and the limits are firm: nothing over 400 pounds is lifted, grand pianos are not moved, and a piece over 300 pounds is not carried up or down more than five steps — on a ten-step porch that is settled on the call, not on the day. Inside those limits, the heavy-item crew brings the stair dolly and a second set of hands for the landing.
Packing before a weekend zoo day
Park-block Saturday moves are packed the Friday before through packing services on the crew-only card, so the crew is loading at 8, not boxing at 10 when Cherokee fills. This page prices in-state moves; a move out of Georgia gets its own quote as a long-distance job. Storefronts on Georgia Avenue and offices on the Memorial Drive frontage move on the same hourly card — no square-foot or per-desk pricing, and the number is written after a walkthrough.
The license, the coverage and the Memorial Drive certificate
Licensed, insured, and papered for the building or the porch
LIOO Moving is a licensed Georgia household-goods carrier regulated by the Georgia Department of Public Safety's Motor Carrier Compliance Division, carries cargo and liability coverage, and includes released-value protection at $0.60 per pound per item on every move, capped at $2,000 per move ($1,000 on labor-only) — the full-value options are explained before a date is held, and a damage claim has to reach LIOO Moving within two calendar days of the move, with the order number and photos. The Memorial Drive and Boulevard buildings want a certificate naming ownership and management as additional insured at the limits on their requirements sheet; the certificate goes out matching that sheet, ahead of the freight reservation. Victorians need no certificate — they need runners on the heart pine, and those are on every truck.

The morning of
The driver cones the curb, the crew lays runners on the heart pine, and the heaviest pieces come down the porch first. Nothing is billed for the drive down Boulevard from the office.
Honest limits: a park-block Saturday in October or the Summer Shade weekend is not offered however early you call. A Memorial Drive studio with the elevator reserved and reserved by 9 in the morning is usually loaded by 2 that afternoon on the 3-hour same-day minimum — the same-day page explains how — and a two-story Victorian with a basement is a next-morning job.

Our Victorian on Cherokee Avenue has ten porch steps and no driveway. What does that do to the crew and the price?
It makes it a three-mover job, and the porch does that, not the square footage. Ten steps with a landing turn make every heavy piece a two-person carry with a third steadying the door; with two movers the truck sits idle while both are on the stairs. A two-bedroom there runs five to six hours with three movers, $1,000 to $1,200, the 80-foot carry inside that number — there is no stair or carry fee, only the hours.
Which I-20 exit should the truck take, and does zoo traffic matter on a weekday?
Exit 59A, Boulevard, for almost every address; Bill Kennedy Way, Exit 59B eastbound, for Memorial Drive east of Boulevard. On a school-day weekday the zoo is not a factor. On a break week, a weekend or a Boo at the Zoo date, Cherokee and Boulevard fill from mid-morning, so park-block moves start at 8 a.m. and the truck comes around by Georgia Avenue and United.
We have to move the weekend of Summer Shade, August 22–23. Can the truck reach a street near the park?
Not the park blocks. The Run for the Park 5K starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and the festival runs in the park from 10, so Cherokee, Sydney, Grant Street and Boulevard between Memorial and United are out both days. Memorial Drive, the Oakland blocks and the streets south of United run normally; for a park-block address, the Friday before or the Monday after, on the weekday minimum.
Our apartment is on Memorial Drive north of I-20 — is that still Grant Park for your crews, and what does the building need?
Yes, same crews and rate; that strip is the 30312 half of the neighborhood. The building will want a certificate of insurance naming its management and a reserved freight elevator — send the requirements sheet and your window and the certificate is filed before the reservation is confirmed. A one-bedroom with the elevator held is three to four hours with two movers, $480 to $640.
Can a POD or storage container sit on a Grant Park street while we load it?
Only if the City allows it at that address — that is the question to settle first, and on the park blocks the space a container needs is the space the truck needs. With one of the single-width driveways toward United or Ormewood, the container goes there and a labor-only crew loads it on the same clock, from $140 an hour, 2.5-hour weekday minimum. Without one, a truck-and-crew move usually costs less than the drop fee and two days of loading.
We're moving into a townhome near The Beacon on a Sunday. Is that a problem?
Before 1:30 p.m., yes — the Grant Park Farmers Market runs at The Beacon, 1040 Grant Street, every Sunday from 9 to 1, year-round, and the Hill Street lot and the Grant Street curbs are its parking. Those addresses book for a Sunday afternoon, on the 3-hour weekend minimum, or for another day. The Beacon-side townhomes load from the alley or a tandem garage, so the truck parks at the alley mouth.
Boo at the Zoo landed on our Saturday. Can we move the Grant Park date, and does the deposit carry over?
Yes. Reply to the reservation email or call (888) 611-5351 and the date moves if the crew is open that day, with the deposit still credited to the new date — it is not refunded and taken again. The terms set three limits: the price can change with a new date, origin or destination if the crew size or the details change, and a reservation change fee may apply; a date change does not restart the refund window, so the deposit is non-refundable once the scheduled move is 72 hours or less away; and cancelling on the day, or after the crew is dispatched, can cost the deposit and the minimum charge. The Zoo-Day sheet above settles most of this before booking — the two Boo Saturdays and the Summer Shade weekend are not offered near the park — and a Memorial Drive building adds one step, since the freight car has to be re-reserved for the new date.
The elevator at our Memorial Drive building is out again. Does the move still happen, and what does it cost us?
It happens, and it costs hours rather than a fee. With the freight car down the crew walks the stairs — on a one-bedroom two floors up, roughly an hour more, about $160 at the two-mover rate — and the estimate is re-quoted that morning if the desk says the car is out. Residents of the newer Memorial Drive and MLK Jr. Drive buildings report elevators down more than once a year, so the day-before call covers the freight car and the garage bar. If the building offers another date, the reservation moves with the deposit credited.
Something got scratched coming down the porch. How do I file a claim, and how long do I have?
Two calendar days from the move, in writing, with the order number, a description and photos — later claims are denied. Included protection is released valuation at $0.60 per pound per item, capped at $2,000 per move ($1,000 on labor-only); full-value protection has to be elected before the job starts. Repair, replacement or a third-party quote is approved by LIOO Moving before any money is spent — photos first, quote second. On a porch job the runners go down on the heart pine and the door frame is padded first; the 30-inch doors are where a Victorian gets marked.
Can I add a third mover after I've booked, and what does it do to the price?
Yes — reply to the reservation email or call before the day and the crew changes; the rate moves from $160 to $200 an hour, and the deposit already paid stays credited to the new estimate. On a park-block Victorian the third mover usually earns the $40: with two, the truck sits idle while both are on the porch stairs, so a two-bedroom that runs five to six hours with three ($1,000 to $1,200) runs longer with two. For a Memorial Drive elevator building or a ground-floor bungalow, two movers are usually the right crew.
We're moving to a bigger unit in the same building on Boulevard. Is that a labor-only job?
Yes — no truck, so it runs on the crew-only card: $140 an hour for two movers, 2.5-hour weekday minimum (3 hours on a weekend), with a 25% deposit credited to the final bill. The Boulevard at Grant Park at 1015 Boulevard is one we have worked unit-to-unit, and the building's rules apply as on any move there: reserve the elevator or the corridor with the office, and list any glass — table tops and inserts — on the reservation so the crew arrives with the right wrap, because that prep is where the hours go on an across-the-hall job.

Most Grant Park moves go one of six ways, and each trades the porch staircase for a dock, a hillside driveway or a freight cab. Only the miles between your two doors are on the clock; the miles to and from the office are on us.
