County Guide · Gwinnett County
Gwinnett’s city list is trickier than most: eleven cities sit fully inside the county, four spill across county lines, and one was voted into existence in 2024. Here’s the accurate roster for Georgia’s second-most-populous — and most diverse — county, and what the boundaries mean when you move.
Quick answer
Gwinnett County, Georgia has 16 incorporated cities. Eleven are fully inside the county — Lawrenceville (the county seat), Peachtree Corners (the largest), Duluth, Norcross, Snellville, Suwanee, Lilburn, Grayson, Dacula, Sugar Hill, and Berkeley Lake. Four more straddle county lines: Buford, Braselton, Auburn, and Loganville. The newest, Mulberry, was approved by voters in 2024. Gwinnett passed one million residents in 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 1-year estimates).
| City | What to know | Moving there? |
|---|---|---|
| Lawrenceville | County seat; historic square, Georgia Gwinnett College | Lawrenceville movers |
| Peachtree Corners | Gwinnett’s largest city; tech corridor along Peachtree Parkway | Peachtree Corners movers |
| Duluth | Downtown green + one of metro Atlanta’s strongest Korean business districts | Duluth movers |
| Norcross | Oldest downtown in the county; walkable historic core | Norcross movers |
| Snellville | East Gwinnett retail hub on US-78 | Snellville movers |
| Suwanee | Town Center green; consistent best-places-to-live rankings | Suwanee movers |
| Lilburn | Home to BAPS Mandir, one of the largest Hindu temples in the U.S. | Lilburn movers |
| Grayson | Small-city feel on the county’s east side | Grayson movers |
| Dacula | Fast-growing northeast corridor along GA-316 | Dacula movers |
| Sugar Hill | Amphitheater downtown; between Buford and Suwanee | Sugar Hill movers |
| Berkeley Lake | The county’s smallest city, built around its namesake lake | Berkeley Lake movers |
Buford (partly in Hall County), Braselton (Jackson, Hall, and Barrow), Auburn (Barrow), and Loganville (Walton) are real Gwinnett cities — but only partly. Which county your specific address falls in decides your property-tax bill, your school system, and your county services, even inside the same city. Two neighbors on the same Braselton street can pay different counties and send kids to different districts.
Mulberry — approved by voters in 2024 in the Hamilton Mill area — is Georgia’s newest city and Gwinnett’s 16th. Its services are still standing up, so expect county/city responsibilities there to keep shifting over the next few years.
Why it matters when you move
In a county-line city, verify the COUNTY on the parcel before you commit: Buford alone splits between Gwinnett and Hall, and Buford City Schools is its own district separate from both counties’ systems. The mailing address won’t tell you — the tax record will.
No single group makes up more than a third of Gwinnett’s residents — the county is majority-minority, with large African American, Hispanic, and Asian American communities. Practically, that means international grocery anchors, language-diverse schools, and some of the metro’s best food corridors — Duluth and Norcross especially. Median home value: $424,400 (ACS 2024 1-year).
Gwinnett moves are apartment-and-subdivision country: gated communities off GA-316 and I-85, HOA move-in windows, and townhome stairs. Pricing works like the rest of metro Atlanta — hourly crews, explained in our Atlanta moving cost guide; for the county’s neighbor-guides, start with moving to Duluth.

Sixteen: eleven fully inside the county, four that straddle county lines (Buford, Braselton, Auburn, Loganville), and Mulberry, approved by voters in 2024.
No — Dunwoody is in DeKalb County. Aggregator lists often misplace it in Gwinnett because it borders Peachtree Corners across the Chattahoochee.
Peachtree Corners. Lawrenceville is the county seat, and Gwinnett as a whole passed one million residents in 2024 — second only to Fulton County in Georgia.
