Festival weekend, in dispatch terms

Getting a truck in
DeKalb Avenue, Freedom Parkway & Moreland: the three ways in
DeKalb Avenue is a different street than it was: the City removed the reversible center lane between Jackson Street and Oxford Place in 2023 and re-signaled the corridor, so the south edge of Inman Park now runs as a fixed two-way road with turn lanes. It is more predictable for a 26-foot truck, and it is the route east to a Decatur delivery. From the north and west, Freedom Parkway carries the truck off the Connector to Highland Avenue in minutes outside rush hour; from the south, Moreland Avenue links to I-20 for moves into East Atlanta and the Grant Park side of the interstate. The Streetcar East Extension toward the BeltLine is paused at roughly 30 percent design, so there is no track construction on Edgewood or Irwin to route around yet.
Timing inside the grid is about people, not cars. Weekday mornings are quiet on the Victorian streets; weekend afternoons on Highland, Krog Street and Euclid near Moreland are not, so a Saturday move near the retail corners starts at 8 a.m. Moves up to Midtown go out Freedom Parkway; moves across the trail into the Old Fourth Ward are ten-minute hauls billed as drive time between addresses, not a second trip. Freedom Park's north–south arm is the old freeway right-of-way, cleared in the sixties and left in kudzu for twenty years before the park opened in 2000; it runs from the parkway down past Copenhill Avenue and the Elizabeth Street end to the MARTA station, with the PATH trail inside it and no vehicle access at all. John Lewis Freedom Parkway itself has no curb. So for any address between Elizabeth and Hurt north of Euclid, the truck comes off the parkway at North Highland and parks on the house's own street — nothing is ever loaded "from the parkway", and the trail crossings at North Highland are treated like the BeltLine ones: wait for the gap, never nose through.
Freedom Parkway — from the Connector and our headquarters
